The Chapel, a gift to the College from Mary Stillman Harkness, was designed by James Gamble Rogers and dedicated in 1940.
Rogers is known for the “collegiate Gothic” buildings he designed for Yale, Columbia and Duke – often in collaboration with Mrs. Harkness' husband, philanthropist Edward S. Harkness.
The Chapel's G. Owen Bonawit windows are one of its most distinctive features. Rich gold and brown glass depicts cherubs, ornate vases and wheat seedings. Central medallions show scenes from the life of Jesus. More about the chapel.
